Grok Bot handles calendars, email, Slack, and a lot of everyday work, but it doesn’t include a personal finance plugin. On its own it can’t see your bank balances or card transactions.
You can fill that gap with Multify, which is free to use. Sign up, link your banks, connect Multify to Grok Bot, then ask questions like “how much did I spend last month?” in the same chat.
Why this works
Multify can securely read linked bank and card activity — balances and transactions only. It can’t move money. Grok Bot connects to Multify over a simple bridge and pulls those numbers when you ask.
Important: Multify’s bank connection is read-only. You sign in on your bank’s own login page, so Multify never sees your banking password.
Step 1: Create a Multify account
- Go to multify.co/multify-for-work.html.
- Sign up with email — Multify is free to get started, and you don’t need any coding.
- Open the dashboard at app.multify.co.
Step 2: Connect your banks and cards
- In Multify, open the left side panel.
- Click Banks (or the + next to it).
- Click Link New Bank/Card.
- Search for your bank or card issuer and finish their secure login, including any text code or app approval.
- Confirm the institution appears under Banks with the accounts you shared.
You can link more than one bank or card. Links made on the web also show up in the Multify mobile app, and the other way around.
The first sync can take a few minutes if your bank has years of history. If an answer looks incomplete right after linking, wait a bit and ask again.

Step 3: Connect Multify to Grok Bot
Most of this step is copy-paste.
- In Multify, click your profile icon (top right) and open MCP, or go to app.multify.co/app/mcp.
- Copy your Bridge API Key. Treat it like a password — don’t post it publicly, and regenerate it if it leaks.
- On that page, Multify also shows a ready-made config snippet with your key already filled in.
- In Grok Bot, paste that config, or ask Grok Bot to add it for you.
Official Multify notes for this step: MCP Integration.
After the connection is live, ask in normal language. You don’t have to name any tools.
Step 4: Ask about your money in Grok Bot
Examples:
- “How much did I spend last month?”
- “How much am I spending on subscriptions on average every month?”
- “What’s the balance on each of my linked accounts right now?”
- “What were my five biggest expenses last month?”
- “List recurring charges from the last six months and what each one costs per year.”
A time window helps (“last month,” “this year,” “since June”).
Try it once
- Link one everyday card or checking account.
- In Grok Bot, ask what your five biggest expenses were last month.
- Then ask how much you spend on subscriptions on average each month.
Privacy
You log in at the bank. Multify stores the connection and transaction history, not your banking password. Grok Bot reaches that data through your Multify bridge key, which you can revoke or regenerate from Multify’s MCP settings. You can unlink a bank anytime from the Banks panel.
Quick checklist
- Sign up free at Multify for Work.
- Connect banks from the side panel.
- Add the Multify bridge to Grok Bot (MCP docs).
- Ask about spending, balances, and subscriptions in plain English.
Grok Bot doesn’t need a built-in finance plugin when Multify is connected and free to use for this.
